What is VirtualBook®?
VirtualBook® is highly interactive and multimedia-rich learning environment. It has been designed to look and feel like a traditional book and features familiar study aids such as highlighters, notes and bookmarks alongside animation, video, sound, and interactive exercises.
What is the VirtualBook® Reader?
The VirtualBook® Reader is the software interface, or device, that enables you to read files produced in the NDT (VirtualBook®) format. The Reader is programmed with sophisticated features including full search and print capabilities, a threaded Query function, Spell Checker and Thesaurus and the ability to connect seamlessly to the Internet.
Does the VirtualBook® Reader cost me anything?
No - the VirtualBook® Reader is free.
Where can I get a copy of the VirtualBook® Reader?
A copy of the VirtualBook® Reader is supplied with all VirtualBook® publications.
Can I choose where my VirtualBook® files will reside?
Yes, you can choose where on your computer you want your VirtualBook® Reader and NDT files (content published in the VirtualBook® format ) to reside.
During the installation of the Reader you will be presented with a default folder to install the program to (C:/Program Files/Virtualbook). Choose "yes" if you want this option, or chose "browse" to choose a different folder.

How does the Licensing of VirtualBook® work?
As the VirtualBook® is a personal, interactive workbook in which you make highlights, post-it notes & bookmarks and in which you also enter your responses to exercises, each person must have his/her own license to log on and use the book (even though this may occur on one PC). Thus although each person does not require his/her own PC to use the VirtualBook®, he/she must have a personal license.
The licensing is managed via a serial number which will be supplied with your CD. The serial number will allow a specified number of users to activate the VirtualBook® (whether this is on one PC or several different PCs), depending on how many licenses were purchased.
How do I open my VirtualBook® Course?
Once the NDT files are installed, you simply click on the course icon, which will launch your course and display the cover of your publication. Click on the "Open" button to open the VirtualBook®.
What is an activation key and how can I get one?
When you purchase a publication produced in the VirtualBook® (NDT) format, you will receive a serial number that will enable you to open or unlock your VirtualBook®. You will then be required to license your book.
Licensing is done through Eduflex.com. There are three licensing procedures: manual licensing, automatic online licensing or licensing via the website. In either case users start by registering as a New User.
What types of operating systems can the VirtualBook® Reader run on?
VirtualBook® currently runs on Windows 2000, XP and NT.
Do I need to re-install the VirtualBook® Reader every time I get new content?
No, the VirtualBook® Reader only needs to be installed once. However there may be updates, due to upgrades in functionality, which you may want to download and install from time to time.
How can I publish my material in the VirtualBook® format?
The Eduflex.com publishing department currently undertakes the publishing of all content into the VirtualBook® format. However, a publishing tool will be released towards mid 2003 that will enable institutions with high volumes of material to convert their own material. Do I need to learn a whole new set of skills to use VirtualBook®?
Not at all! VirtualBook® is easy to use and features simple instructions. Entry-level computer users will find that VirtualBook® many of the same study aids they would use when studying from a printed book.
Each VirtualBook® is accompanied by a Guided Tour for assistance.
How much does it cost to buy content for the VirtualBook® Reader?
The price varies from publication to publication.
Some of my toolbar functions are not working. Should they all work all the time?
Some functions may be disabled at the request of the publisher. You will be notified of any toolbar functions that have been disabled by a pop-up tooltip that appears when your hold your cursor over the toolbar buttons.
My activation code did not work and my VirtualBook® Reader is not unlocked.
Double check that all the information you entered is correct, and that it has been entered exactly as provided, i.e. all letter have been entered as CAPS, there are no spaces and that 0 as been entered as a zero, not the letter 'O'. Can I edit the published content of a VirtualBook®?
No. To protect the copyright of the content, the published work cannot be edited.
Can I edit my answers, notes and other entries in VirtualBook®?
Yes. All user entries can edited, searched, spell checked, thesaurus-checked, and printed as well.
